SOUTH BEND - Sylvia M. Howlett, 70, passed away on Friday, April 28, in her residence.
Sylvia was born on October 10, 1946 in Nuremberg, Germany as the daughter of the late Charles and Oleda (Mattax) Bowen.
On October 23, 1968 in Stanislaus Catholic Church, South Bend she married the love of her life, Charles Howlett. Chuck and Sylvia were always together; for 37 years they owned and operated Patricia Ann Florist in South Bend working side by side. She loved bringing happiness to everyone though flowers and seeing the smiles it brought to their faces, many times working long hours and weekends; she relished the joy it would bring everyone. Her biggest and best joy was her husband Chuck. In 2012 they sold Patricia Ann Florist, so they could enjoy retirement together.
Sylvia is survived by her husband, Chuck Howlett, two brothers, Charles Bowen of Blairville, GA and Thomas M. Bowen of Walkerton; two brothers-in-law, Mike and Dana Howlett both of South Bend and many nieces and nephews, friends and acquaintances.
Private graveside services and burial will take place on Tuesday, May 2 in St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend, with longtime friend Rev. David Porterfield CSC officiating. Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka entrusted with arrangements.
