Edward N. Kalamaros, 62, of Lake Forest Court, Granger, Ind., was born on July 5, 1934. He was a 1952 South Bend Central High School graduate. In 1958, he married Marilyn Jane Foster, a school teacher at Marquette School in South Bend. He is survived by his wife and four children, Alexander E. Kalamaros, a local realtor, Philip E. Kalamaros and Timothy E. Kalamaros, both local attorneys, and Dr. Anastasia A. Kalamaros, a Professor at the University of Colorado; and a sister, Patricia Poulos of Soquel, Calif.

Edward Kalamaros attended the University of Notre Dame from 1952 through 1959, where he received his B.SC (Bachelor of Science in Commerce), LLB (Bachelor of Laws), and JD (Doctor of Law). He served in the Indiana National Guard, U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserves. He opened his office for the general practice of law in 1960 in the Tower Building where he remained until 1983 when he purchased and renovated the Frances Shop Building at 129 N. Michigan Avenue. He remained there as the firm's managing stockholder of Edward N. Kalamaros and Associates, PC., Attorneys and Counselors at Law, until succession to that post by his son, Philip E. Kalamaros.

In addition to the general practice of law, he was the Chief Deputy Prosecutor for the 60th Judicial Circuit from 1963 to 1967. From 1967 through 1971, he served as a U.S. Government Appeal Agent and from 1971 to 1975, he served as a Selective Service Advisor to Registrants. From 1970 to 1973, he served on the St. Joseph County Tax Adjustment Board. He served as a director of the 'fewer Federal Savings and Loan until it was acquired by Standard Federal. He served on the Board of Directors of the Council for the Retarded of St. Joseph County from 1966 to 1972 and the Board of Directors of the Alcoholism Council of St. Joseph County from 1972 to 1978. He served on the St. Joseph's High School Board of Education from 1975 to 1981, and was President in 1980-1981. He served on the Board of Directors of Madison Center from 1989 to 1991; and the Board of Indiana Opera North from 1990 to 1993 and South Bend Entertainment, Inc. (for renovation of the Morris and Palais Royale) from 1993 to 1996. He served on the Madison Hospital Board from 1991, for which he was elected president in 1996. Mr. Kalamaros also served on the Friends of the Snite Museum at University of Notre Dame since 1992 and South Bend Regional Museum of Art since 1994.

He was a Fellow of the Indiana Bar Association, and an honorary member of the South Bend Press Club. He was past Deacon, Trustee, and Elder of the First Presbyterian Church of South Bend. He lectured and was published in the area of "worker's compensation" and "administrative law" for the Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum and various industry organizations and forums. He was an active member of the American Bar Association, Indiana Bar Association, St. Joseph County Bar Association, 7th Circuit Bar Association, International Association of Industrial Accident Boards and Commissions, Indiana Trial Lawyers Association, Indiana Defense Lawyers Association, American Trial Lawyers Association, Defense Research Institute, Lawyers and Pilots Bar Association (FAA Licensed Private Pilot and Lawyer), St. Joseph Lodge 45 Free and Accepted Masons, South Bend Conistory Scottish Rite Masons, 32nd and Orak Shrine Temple.

Friends may wish to contribute to the First Presbyterian Church, South Bend, Ind. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the First Presbyterian Church of South Bend, with Rev. David Morrow presiding. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. and one hour prior to the service at the church.
