Cecil "Cec" Wallace, 87, of Greensboro, N.C., formerly of South Bend, Ind., died at 6:15 a.m. on Sunday, Nov 8, in North Carolina. Mr. Wallace was born on Jan. 29, '911. in South Bend, to Bert A. and Blanche (Thompson) Wallace. On Dec. 31, 1932, he married Hattie Lea in South Bend She survives.

He began his 60-year business career as a 14-year-old night clerk at the old Morningside Residential Hotel. Then he clerked at Fays Jewelry Store and, for a number of years, at Reco Sporting Goods Store. In 1941 Cec took over the sales territory of Ohio and Michigan for the South Bend Bait Company, rising to executive vice-president before joining the Associates Investments Company in 1962. After retiring from Associates at the age of 65, Cec became executive vice-president of Koszegi Leather and Vinyl Products, Inc., and finally retired at the age of 72. 

Cec was a member of the Fishing Hall of Fame and, in 1954, he starred in the first movie ever made of sport fishing in South ‘America, catching for the cameras a 442 pound swordfish and a 421 pound black marlin.

Cec was a graduate of Central High School and a 32nd Degree Mason at Masonic Lodge #294 

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Hattie Wallace; two sons, Dick L. Wallace of Naples, Fia., and Ronald K. Wallace of Yellville, Ark; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and by a son- in-law, Dick Shiels. 

Funeral services for Cecil “Cec” A. Wallace will be held at 11. a.m on Thursday, Nov. 12, at the Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend. Burial will take place in  Southlawn Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at the funeral home.
