SOUTH BEND - Mr. James A. Woods, 80, who formerly resided on Miami Street, South Bend, IN, passed away at Vista East Hospital in Waukegan, IL, on January 1, 2012. James was born to the union of James Lewis & Maude Evelyn (Scruggs) Woods on January 28, 1931, in South Bend, IN; they both preceded him in death along with six brothers, Vertiselle, Waddell, Bernard, Lonnie, Gerald and Ronald Woods, and two sisters, Lillian Hopkins and Maxine Redd.

James graduated from South Bend Central High School.

He served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. His hobby was working on television sets.

Survivors left to cherish his memory include his sister, Geraldine Nicholes of South Bend, along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2012, at Alford's Mortuary. Viewing will occur one hour prior to services. Arrangements have been entrusted to Alford's Mortuary where messages of condolence may be e-mailed to Alfordsmortuary@att.net, c/o the Woods family.
