EUSTREN E. "WOODY" WOODFORD

Eustren Earl "Woody" Woodford Aug. 31, 1927 - July 5, 2014 BOLINGBROOK, IL - Eustren Earl Woodford, "Woody," 86, of South Bend, IN, passed away quietly July 5, 2014, at Meadowbrook Manor nursing home in Bolingbrook, IL. Woody was born in Chicago, Illinois, August 31, 1927. He was the third of four siblings, two sisters and a brother, of which two have preceded him in death.

Woody moved to South Bend, Indiana, where he attended Central High School and met Dora Marie Stein who became his high school sweetheart. After graduating high school, Woody served in the United States Army.

In December of 1953, he married Dora. Woody and Dora were married for 53 years and from this marriage came four sons. Dora preceded Woody in death on August 4, 2007.

Woody worked for Studebaker and then for the South Bend School Corporation as a roving engineer. Woody took great pride in serving as an officer for his local trade union during his tenure with School City. He also took pride as a member of the Martin Luther King Men's Senior Club.

Woody's memory is cherished by his surviving sons, Leslie Woodford of Houston, TX, Mark (Akita) Woodford of Downingtown, PA, Jason (Christine) Woodford of Bolingbrook, IL, and Dorian Thompson of Encino, CA. Woody has 3 grandsons, 3 granddaughters, 2 great-grandsons, 3 great- granddaughters, and a host of nieces and nephews. His sons, Bruce Woodford of Petaluma, C,A and David Thompson of Los Angeles, CA, preceded Woody in death.

Viewing: July 11th, Friday, at 11:30 A.M. at Alford's Mortuary in South Bend, Indiana (1222 W. Napier Street). Memorial service: July 11th, Friday, at 12:30 P.M. at Alfords Mortuary, with the burial following at Highland Cemetery, South Bend, IN.
