JULIUS G. "JAY" WALKER

GRANGER - Julius George "Jay" Walker, 81, of Granger, IN, passed away November 13, 2009. He was born April 11, 1928, in South Bend, IN, to George and Hattie Walker, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Pope and Shirley Raybuck.

On July 2, 1949, he married the former Marguerite "Mike" Minnis in Crown Point, IN. In addition to his wife, Jay is survived by his two children, Cindy (Jim) Schaefges of Hoffman Estates, IL, and Court (Debra) Walker of Granger, IN. They also have one grandson, Kevin Walker of Granger.

During World War II, he served as a corporal in the United States Marine Corps on the island of Guam and later in China.

Jay was a graduate of South Bend Central High School and earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Indiana University South Bend. He retired as a senior buyer in 1994 after 45 years with the Bendix Aerospace Company.

Jay and Mike attended Calvary Baptist Church in South Bend, IN, where he dearly loved his friends in his Adult Bible Fellowship class. His hobbies included golfing, fishing, and his monthly card games with his friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 16th, in Calvary Baptist Church, 3001 W. Cleveland Road, with Pastor Reed Anderstrom officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. today, November 15th, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road.
