Mayzell Teague (Williams) - Class Of 1957 VIEW PROFILE

MAYZELL (TEAGUE) WILLIAMS 

Dec. 3, 1938 - Nov. 19, 2013 SOUTH BEND - Mayzell (Teague) Williams, 74, was born December 3, 1938 and departed this life on November 19, 2013 after a lengthy illness. Mayzell was the daughter of Walter and Laura (Harris) Teague. Coming from Kosciusko, Mississippi, the family moved to South Bend, Indiana in the early 1940s.

Mayzell attended Linden Elementary School and Central High School. She also attended Ivy Tech College to earn her Nurse's Aide Competency in the State of Indiana. This certification enabled her to work for many years at St. Joseph Hospital in Mishawaka, Indiana.

Mayzell was a loving mother, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a special aunt to many of her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed just spending time with family members, playing cards, hosting family dinners, bowling and bingo. She was united in holy matrimony to Arthur Townsend, who preceded her in death.

On September 28, 1972 she married James Arthur Williams, who survives. Mrs. Williams leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband, James Arthur Williams; three daughters: Donna (James) Harris and Bonnie Townsend, both of South Bend, Indiana, and Laura Townsend of Atlanta, Georgia; two step-daughters: Janie (Dana) Cole of Columbia, Maryland and Alesia (Johnson) James of Columbus, Ohio; two sons: Richard Townsend of South Bend and Donald (Vanessa) Townsend of Logansport, Indiana; eleven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one brother, Jesse (Gertha) Teague of New Hope, Minnesota; in addition, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Along with her parents, Walter and Laura Teague, she was preceded in death by four sisters: Carrie McKinney, Adelle Frye, Jean Adams, Willa J. Elkins; three brothers: Willie Teague, Fred Teague and T.J. Wilson; and ex-husband, Arthur Townsend.

Services for Mrs. Williams will be held on Monday, November 25, 2013 in Pilgrim Baptist Church, 116 N. Birdsell Street, South Bend. Visitation will begin at 12:00 Noon and service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Highland Cemetery. Family and friends may visit www.clarkoneal.com to sign her guestbook. Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
