SOUTH BEND - Jesse L. Thompson, age 68, of South Bend, passed away on Monday, September 12, 2011 at 1:20 a.m. in his home of natural causes. Jesse was born on January 8, 1943 in Ellisville, Mississippi to the late Jesse Howard & Martha Irene (McCardle) Thompson.

He was a South Bend Central High School graduate.

He married Delores "Dee" A. Yetter on November 8, 1969. She survives in South Bend. Also surviving are his children, Debbie Jones, Dalton, GA.; Regina (Robert) Brown, Odenville, Alabama; Lorraine (James) Winenger, South Bend; Stephen (Julie) Balogh, South Bend; Scott (Penny) Balogh, Little Rock, Arkansas & Sheridan (Jeff) Davis of Mishawaka. 12 grandchildren also survive. His brothers, Lanny (Linda) Thompson of South Bend & Eric (Sheila) Thompson of Fort Wayne also survive.

Jesse was a U.S. Marine Corp. Veteran with 6 1/2 years of service. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #303. He was a member of the River Park United Methodist Church in South Bend. He was a retired quality control inspector for Niles Precision in Niles, MI.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the River Park United Methodist Church, 920 S. 23rd Street, South Bend, with Pastor Tom Thews presiding. A Dinner will immediately follow the Service. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. (1 hour prior to Services) on Saturday, Sept. 24th at the Church. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the church.
