MISHAWAKA - Charles A. "Al" Starkweather, 69, of Mishawaka, passed away at 4:52 p.m. Thursday in his home surrounded by family. Charles was born on May 9, 1941, the son of William C. and Charlotte (Metzger) Starkweather.

On March 13, 1959, he married Rheda Oblinger. He is survived by his loving wife, Rheda of Mishawaka; four children, Richard A. (Rose) Starkweather of Osceola, Tammy R. (James) Barcus of Mishawaka, Melissa S. (Dan) Morgan of South Bend and Krystal L. (Shawn) Wilson of Goshen; eight grandchildren, Sean, Brandon, Ryan, Jeremy, Zach, Christopher, Kassidy and Matthew. He is also survived by two sisters, Hazel (Gene) Bagnara of South Bend and Joan (Kenneth) Holloway of Cabot, AR.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Dwayne Starkweather, and by a sister, Lucille Alexander.

Al had been an area lifetime resident, graduating from South Bend Central High School. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves and was the Plant Manager at Maron Products in Mishawaka. He worked there for 46 years before his retirement in 2005.

Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, February 7, 2011, in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2011, in the funeral home, with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Rev. David Powell will officiate.
