May 18, 1932 - Dec. 4, 2012 SOUTH BEND - Rocco D. Rodino, 80, of South Bend, passed away at 9:03 AM December 4th in the Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation Facility in South Bend, IN. Rocky was born on May 18th, 1932, in South Bend, IN, to the late Mary (Tirotta) and Louis Rodino.

Mr. Rodino resided in the Kokomo, IN, area since 1971, coming from Whittier, California. He attended Central High School in South Bend, IN, and then enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1952. Rocky served his country in the Korean Conflict and was discharged in 1960.

After the Army, he moved to California and was employed by the Chrysler Corporation. He worked in the transmission division and then in 1963 he was transferred to Kokomo, IN. On May 31, 1994, he retired from the Chrysler Corporation after 25 years of service, and was accredited with many years of perfect attendance at his job.

Rocky is survived by one brother, Louis Rodino of Lakeville, and two sisters, Josephine Brekrus and Betty (John) Marroni, both of South Bend, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Julia Kambol, Catherine Agostino-Palatin, Rose Rodino, Lena Perry and Theresa Manijak; and one brother, Frank Rodino.

Rocky was a member of the UAW Union Local 685 and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He was also a member of the Bon-Air Church of the Nazarene in Kokomo, IN. Rocky's great passion was hunting and fishing. He loved and respected his many hunting dogs that he had over the years. He also loved gardening, and sharing his produce with family and friends.

Mr. Rodino was a loving brother and uncle who cared for his family and will be dearly missed by his family and all who had the opportunity to know Rocky during his life journey.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM Friday, Dec. 7th, at HANLEY and Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home, located at West Ireland Road / Indiana 23, South Bend. Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 8th, at 11:00 in the funeral home. Friends may call Saturday morning 9 AM - 11 AM prior to service time. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery in South Bend, IN. In lieu of flowers, PLEASE make all memorial contributions to The Humane Society of St. Joseph County, located at 2506 Grape Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545; or to the Military Honor Park located at 4300 Veterans Drive, South Bend, IN 46628. The HANLEY & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home handled arrangements and services and extends its deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the Rodino family.
