Rev. Albert Miller, 68, was born to the union of West Miller Jr. and Ida (Ross) Miller on April 23, 1944, in Steele, Missouri. He departed this life on February 9, 2013, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Indiana.

He graduated from Central High School in 1963.

Upon graduation, he joined the United States Army in 1964, serving until 1967.

In 1967 he united in holy matrimony to Essie Lemons.

He was employed at UPS for more than 20 years. Rev. Miller loved learning, which is reflected in his many accomplishments. He graduated from Ivy Tech with a degree in Mechanics. He attended Moody Bible Institute of Religious Studies in Chicago, Illinois. He also received a Doctorate Degree of Divinity from Burke Bible College on January 19, 1979. Rev. Miller accepted Christ under the leadership of Rev. Hardy N. Petty at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist in South Bend, Indiana. He taught Sunday School and became a deacon, and lastly, a minister. He was the proud pastor of St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church in Buchanan, Michigan, for more than 30 years. He was also an active member of the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance for many years. Rev. Miller was a charitable man, donating to various charities throughout the city, state and abroad.

He leaves to cherish his memory a loving, devoted, supportive wife, Essie Mae Miller; two sons, Ricky (Cynthia) Miller Sr. of Snellville, Georgia, and Jermaine (Leslie) Miller Sr. of Mishawaka, Indiana; a sister, Mary Sanchez; and a brother, Johnnie (Almeter) Miller; seven grandchildren, Jazmyn, Jermaine Jr., Jordan, Ricky Jr., Alexis, Jalen and Julian; seven loving goddaughters, Bobbie (Anthony) Woods, Ferri Bynum, Pat Williams, Sherry Williams, Vanessa Barnes, Tasha Barnes and Shelia Barnes; and two godsons, Lamar Jenkins and Darryl Barnes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, West Miller Jr. and Ida (Ross) Miller; a sister, Ida Mae Amos; and a brother, Earnest Williamson.

Visitation for Rev. Albert Miller will take place on Thursday, February 14, 2013, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, 24393 Fillmore Road, South Bend. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 15, 2013, in Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. and service at 11:00 a.m. Services will also be broadcast on WUBS.org Christian Radio 89.7 FM at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.
