MABLENE LOVELADY OBITUARY

April 5, 1945 - June 28, 2012 SOUTH BEND - Mablene (Johnson) Lovelady, beloved sweet daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 28, 2012, from Center of Hospice House. A strong supporter of her family and friends, she was always available to lend a helping hand. Mable was born on April 5, 1945, in Pulaski, Illinois, to Sarah (Snow) Johnson and the late Wilson Johnson Sr. In 1947 she relocated to South Bend, Indiana, along with her family, and resided at 310 S. Kentucky Street.

She received her educational training at Harrison Elementary School and Central High School.

Known affectionately by her family as "Red," she provided guidance and love to her nieces and nephews, as the ultimate childcare provider. Mablene accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of Rev. John Bowles of United Methodist Church and later joined Layman Chapel CME Church under the leadership of Rev. Billie W. Kirk.

On February 5, 1966, she was united in holy matrimony to Willie Lovelady Sr. To this union three children were born, Wendolyn Lovelady-Davidson, Willie Lovelady Jr. and Nicole Lovelady-Roberts.

Mrs. Lovelady was employed, until her illness, as a medical assistant at Saint Joseph Hospital for sixteen years, providing compassionate care to her patients.

She leaves to mourn her loving mother, Sarah Johnson; two daughters, Wendolyn (Vincent) Lovelady-Davidson and Nicole (Damonte) Lovelady-Roberts; and son, Willie Lovelady Jr., who all reside in South Bend, Indiana. Also, mourning her loss are six sisters, Ida (Joe) Laster-Kyle, Deloris Redding, Alberta (George) Husband, Mary (Tony) Bethel, Alice Allen and Gloria (Chester) Ellis; and two brothers, Sylvester (Lillian) Johnson and Wilson (Jessie) Johnson. Mable is survived by thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, along with a host of relatives. Special recognition to her nieces, Dawn Ellis and Toni Johnson, and god-granddaughter, LaShawndra Bond, for their unconditional love and support.

She was preceded in death by her father, Wilson Sr., and siblings, Leroy Johnson, Cornelius Johnson, Levinus Johnson, Lorenzo Johnson, Lorene Franklin, Ella Mae Johnson, Sarah Johnson and Levunia Johnson.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Saint Joseph Medical Center and Center of Hospice House, for their passionate, loving care of Mable.
