SOUTH BEND - James Clinton Niblick, 94, of South Bend died at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, October 29th. Mr. Niblick was born May 4, 1921 in South Bend to the late Doris L. (Eddy) and Clinton F. Niblick and was a lifetime area resident.

On April 4, 1942 in South Bend he married Alice Mae Zillmer who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, F. Larry Niblick. He is survived by his daughter, Jone Marie Chastain-Pyzik (John); two grandchildren, Rhett Harris (Tina) of South Bend and Tara Morris of Indianapolis; and five great-grandchildren, Emery and Bailey Harris, and Jake, Ryan, and Will Morris.

Jim retired from Bendix as an assistant chief engineer in the jet propulsion research and development division. He invented the antiskid, antilock brake system among other patents which are recorded in the Library of Congress, under his name. He was a long time active member of Evangel Heights United Methodist Church, the masonic lodge and Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 6th in Evangel Heights United Methodist Church, 114 N. Ironwood Dr., with Rev. Dr. Patrick Sommers officiating. Committal services and entombment will follow at Riverview Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4 until 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 5th in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. and in the church on Friday from 12:00 noon until the time of service.
