John J. Seiler

John J. Seiler, 83, died of natural causes at 3:20 a.m. on Wednesday, June 10, in the St. Joseph Community Hospital, Mishawaka, Ind. John was born to Harry and Clara Seiler in Sound Bend Ind. on Sept. 8, 1914.

On Feb. 1, 1935, he married Mary G. Helton in South Bend. He is survived by his wife Mary; a daughter, Jacqueline Y. Metzler of Anchor Point, Alaska; two sons, Jerry J. Seiler of Mishawaka and Jesse J. Seiler of Granger, Ind.; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and by a sister, Betty Dowen of Berlin, Wis.

Mr. Seiler was an engineer and draftsman with the Bendix Corporation for 35 years. He ran the Golf-Mor Miniature & Practice Range on Grape Road and U.S. 20. He also worked for 20 years as a field representative for the American Kennel Club of New York and was active in judging German Shepherd dogs.

He graduated in 1933 from the former Central High School, South Bend, where he was captain of the football team that year.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. today at the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 North Main Street, Mishawaka. Officiating will be Rev. David Miller. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, Mishawaka.
