SOUTH BEND, IN - Jeannette L. “Jean” Kapalczynski, 89, residing in South Bend, passed away at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 24, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 13, 1929 in South Bend, IN, a daughter of the late Gaston & Wilma May (Dennison) Tatum and has lived in South Bend most of her life. She also lived briefly in Wyoming, Arizona, and Illinois. On March 18, 1949 in South Bend, she was united in marriage to Paul E. Frazier who passed away on August 17, 1982. Then on August 21, 1999 in South Bend, she was married to Leonard Kapalczynski who died on May 24, 2015. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Kay Brohl.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Gwen D. (Barry) Newtson of Dunedin, FL; and her two sons, Craig E. (Doris) Frazier of Mishawaka, IN and Kurt D. (Kim) Frazier of Lombard, IL. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Brittney (Fabian) Romo, Justin Frazier (fiancee Bri Nice), Allison (Kyle) Hanley, Kristi (Brian) Baker, Carrie (Mark) Lingofelter, Heather Newtson, and Eric Newtson; six great-grandchildren; and her sister, Deanna (Jim) Denniston of Dallastown, PA.

Mrs. Kapalczynski retired as a Title I Tutor with the South Bend Community School Corp. following 18 years of dedicated service. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #357, Z.B. Falcons, the South Bend Central High School Alumni Band, and the Purdue Extension Choir.

Services will be at 12:00p.m. Monday, December 31, 2018 at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend, where family and friends may gather from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery.
