SOUTH BEND - Robert F. Vaughn, 89, passed away at 9:58 pm Thursday, July 5, 2012, in Memorial Hospital. Robert was born June 24, 1923, to the late John and Dorothy (Reasor) Vaughn. Robert was also preceded in death by a son, Robert A. Vaughn, who passed away September 24, 2005.

Robert is survived by son, David Vaughn of Phoenix, AZ; daughters, Dorothy (John) Frantom of New Carlisle, IN, Mary Ellen (Charles) Gilchrist of Goodyear, AZ, and Beth Vaughn of Michigan City, IN; 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; a sister, Marilyn (John) Haveman of Plantation, FL; and a brother, Donald (Garnetta) Vaughn of Livonia, MI.

Robert honorably served in the United States Army during World War II and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol. He retired from U.S. Steel after many years of service, enjoyed reading and spending time with his family.
