Richard Mead Kise Sr.

Richard Mead Kise, Sr., born November 4, 1923 in South Bend, Indiana, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2013 at William Childs Hospice Center in Palm Bay, with his family by his side.

Shortly after high school, Dick enlisted with the Marine Corps and served with the VMD-254 squadron, flying reconnaissance missions over enemy bases in the Pacific as an aerial photographer during WWII. When his service to his country ended, Dick met in California, the love of his life and future wife of 66 years, Sarah Paul.

In 1954, the family relocated to Florida where Dick was employed by RCA at PAFB as an aerial photographer and later became Manager of the Photo Lab. Dick earned a BS Degree from Rollins College and then worked with various aerospace companies supporting the Apollo and Shuttle programs before retiring from Lockheed in 1989.

Dick and Sarah enjoyed their retirement traveling the country in their conversion van. They also spent their summers making new friends, entertaining and creating fond memories for themselves and their family in their vacation home in Ten Mile, Tennessee. The Kise family was one of the founding members of Ascension Catholic Church. Dick was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of Council #14573.

Dick is survived by his loving wife, Sarah; sister, Vivian Kise; daughters, Maryann Bowman (Dan) and Vivian Fisher (Ron); sons, Paul Kise, Rick Kise, Chuck Kise (Karen) and Jim Kise (Marti); grandchildren, Kristin Woodling (Ricky), Kristina Kise, James Kise and Justin Kise; and great-grandchildren, Austin, Jackson and Mason.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 30, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Ascension Catholic Church in Melbourne. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, 1425 Miller St., NE, Palm Bay.
