MISHAWAKA - Dorothy Ruth Marks, 89, passed away on Friday, October 26, 2012, at 6:06 p.m. in the Golden Living Center, Fountainview Nursing Home in Mishawaka.
Dorothy was born on September 23, 1923, in Gladstone, MI, to Frank John and Helen (Renquet) Jackey. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Jeanne Coyner, and a brother, Frank Jackey.
In September 1946 she married Willis "Bud" Marks, who preceded her in death in February 1990. Surviving are her children, Paul Allen (Lois) Marks of Kouts, IN, David (Cynthia) Marks of Elkhart, IN, Willis Wayne (Martha) Marks, Susan (Richard) De Munck, Diane (Paul) Daggy and Joyce (Tim) Dunne, all of Mishawaka; 12 grandchildren & 20 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Julie Hagye of Muskegon, MI, and Helen Emenaker of Mishawaka. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Janet (Russ) Beery of Mishawaka and Mary Jackey of El Cajon, CA.
Dorothy was a loving, caring person, and her family always came first. She was a member of the Hilltop Lutheran Church, a graduate of South Bend Central High School, and was also a supporter of Mishawaka High School. She loved cats, cooking, and was an avid gardener with a fondness for red raspberries. Dorothy was also a proud "Yooper" who loved traveling, camping and poetry. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
Visitation for Dorothy will be held Tuesday, October 30th, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A memorial service will follow at 11:30, with the Rev. David Russell of Hilltop Lutheran Church officiating.
Memorial contributions in memory of Dorothy may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Association or to Aseracare Hospice.
