Hilton, Mario 1/16/1924 - 7/16/2017 Ypsilanti Mario Edgardo Hilton was born January 16, 1924 in Colon, Panama. He arrived in the United States at age twenty, having obtained a sponsorship at Central High School in South Bend, Indiana. In 1946 he began his service in the United States Army. After WWII he eventually moved to Ann Arbor. Tom Monahan met Mario through St. Thomas the Apostle Church and invited him to work at Domino's Farms in various capacities. In 1985 Mario began his service as sacristan of the Domino's Farms' Chapel which lasted for many years. For over ten years Mario also assisted at St. Thomas the Apostle Church by setting up the Altar for daily Mass and often serving as acolyte. One could always find Mario spending the entire Friday night in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. His favorite Saints were Therese of Lisieux and Rita of Cascia. Mario was also a Third Order Carmelite. Mario was called to his heavenly home on Sunday, July 16, 2017 the feast day of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. He is preceded in death by his parents Marshall and Esther and sister Dorothy. He will be fondly missed by his niece Eleanor, great nephew Mario, great nieces Noris "Cookie" and Olga and ten grand nephews and nieces. Mario Hilton's love of God and kind, joyful demeanor have touched and changed the lives of many. His life centered on love of God, knowledge of Him and sacrifices for the benefit of others. Visitation will be held at Muehlig Funeral Home, 403 S. 4th Avenue, Ann Arbor, Friday, July 21, 2017 from 2:00 pm 8:00 pm. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 pm. Funeral Mass followed by luncheon reception is at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 530 Elizabeth Streeet, Ann Arbor, Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 10:30 am. Mario Hilton will be laid to rest at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery following the reception. Friends may share a memory of Mario with his family at: www.muehligannarbor.com
