SOUTH BEND - Jack L. Krieg, 86, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2017 in St. Joseph Reginal Medical Center.

Jack was born June 17, 1931 in South Bend to the late Jack and Elizabeth (Egyed) Krieg. Jack was also preceded in death by a son, Bruce Krieg.

On October 20, 1957, Jack married the love of his life Shirley (Lawson) Krieg. They would have celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary in a week. Shirley survives along with their children, Brian L. (Kathie) Krieg, and Felecia (John) Buda; grandchildren, Melissa (Matthew) Jones, Brent Krieg, Robert (Shea) Krieg, Sarah (Adam) Kline, Zach (Samantha) Krieg, and Chelsea Kruk: 10 great grandchildren: and his sister, Elizabeth Ann Krieg.

Jack was a graduate of Central High School. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He attended DeVry College earning his Communication degree then worked for AT&T until retiring after 38 years. Jack was a member of the Westside Hungarian Democratic Club, Laurel Club, American Legion Post 284, and a lifetime member and Tuesday night bowler of PNA Club. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, NASCAR, Star Trek, and reading cowboy books. Jack loved spending time with his family and participating with his grandchildren. He would transport them to school, keep their secrets of when they got in trouble, give them money and play with them. He was a very giving man, always helping everyone and would stand up for what was right. The family will always treasure their memories of time spent together, especially annual trips to the cottage on Gravel Lake.

Visitation for Jack will be held from 2:00pm to 8:00pm, Tuesday, October 17, 2017 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. A Funeral Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 10:00am in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
