SOUTH BEND - Geraldine A. Czeck, 91, of South Bend, IN, passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at Hamilton Communities in New Carlisle, IN. Geraldine was born on December 16, 1925, in South Bend, IN, to the late Albert and Antoinette (Jachimiak) Niemier. On June 7, 1947, in South Bend, she married Raymond W. Czeck, who preceded her in death on May 31, 1999. Geraldine is survived by her daughters, Judith (Patrick) Cravalho of South Bend, IN, and Deborah (Gary) Wilke of Kalamazoo, MI; six grandchildren, Amy Beaudrie of Monroe, MI, Gary R. (Tristan) Wilke of Portage, MI, Emily (Casey) Patterson of Portage, MI, Mark (Jen) Wilke of Portage, MI, Carrie (Darrin) Miller of Middlebury, IN, Patrick F. Cravalho of Los Altos Hills, CA; one step-granddaughter, Leslie (Norm) Stetson of San Jose, CA; thirteen great-grandchildren, Allyson, Kellie, Megan, Michael and Alexander Beaudrie, Madelyn, Rory, Abigail, Hannah, Lillian and Samuel Wilke, Grace and Alaina Miller; two step-great-grandchildren, Shane and Luke Stetson; and one sister-in-law, Annis Jane Niemier of South Bend, IN. She was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Horvath; and three brothers, Lucian, Bernard and Ernest Niemier. Geraldine was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church. She was also a longtime member of St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr Church in South Bend, where she was baptized and married. Geraldine was a graduate of Central High School and the College of Commerce. She was employed in the Engineering Department at Bendix for 25 years. After retirement, she worked part-time in the deli at Kmart on Western Avenue for a few years. She was named caregiver of the year in 1999 from Real Services for the loving and respectful care she gave her husband Raymond, who had ALS for 14 years. She enjoyed Notre Dame sports, professional basketball, traveling to Hawaii with her husband, and going to the casino with her daughter. Geraldine was a longtime volunteer at Ko-Op 65. She was a member of Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, and an associate member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #155. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 7, 2017, at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2017, in St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
