Markus A. Horner

Dec. 15, 1941 - Oct. 15, 2006

Markus A. Horner , 64, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away at 9:35 p.m. Sunday, October 15, 2006, in Hospice House, South Bend.

Mr. Horner was born December 15, 1941, in South Bend, to Milo and Veronica (Howard) Horner , and had remained a lifelong resident of this area. He was a graduate of Central High School and Elkhart Career Center, having obtained a Master Plumbing Certificate, and worked as a plumbing and heating contractor throughout his career.

On December 24, 1975, in Grand Prairie, TX, he married Patricia Hopkins, who survives. He is also survived by his two daughters, Jennifer Horner and Leslie Ludwick, both of South Bend; his four sons, Gregg (Judith) Horner and Bradley (Cheryl) Horner , both of South Bend, Marcus (Tanja) Horner of Niles, MI, and Thomas Huston of Oak Park, IL. Also surviving are eight grandchildren; two sisters, Francis Benetiz of North Hollywood, CA, and Shirley Sadowski of South Bend; and a brother, Robert Horner of Mishawaka. He was preceded in death by a sister, Veronica Houck.

Mr. Horner enjoyed the Chicago Cubs, Notre Dame and Chicago Bears football, music and singing. Most of all, his family and children were most important.

Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 18, in Living Stones Church, 718 East Donmoyer Ave., South Bend. Rev. Sam Barrington will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services Wednesday in the church.

Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend, is assisting the Horner family with arrangements.
