James Charles Holland

James Charles Holland, 62, of Winslow Court, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 2:28 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 9, in Dukes Memorial Hospital, Peru, Ind.

He was born on Oct. 24, 1941, in Mishawaka, Ind., to Ronald C. and Katherine (Walsh) Holland, who preceded him in death.

On Aug. 31, 1968, in South Bend, James married Darlene Makowski. James is survived by his wife, Darlene; two daughters, Deanne Holland of South Bend and Heather (Brent) Thompson of Granger, Ind.; a son, Bryan Holland of Columbus, Ohio; granddaughter, Alyssa Poznanski; brother, Ronald Lee (Sandra) Holland of Granger; sister, Suzanne (Randy) Glover of South Bend; brothers-in-law, Tim Makowski of Great Falls, Mont., and Marion Makowski of South Bend; nieces and nephews, Kim Fredlake, Jim Holland, Jeff Holland, Dale Makowski, Lori Makowski, Cindy (deceased) (Davis) Walarski; and by eight great-nieces and nephews, Alexandra, Justin, Morgan, Lee-Kelly, Chad, Zoey, Ryan and Kim.

Jim graduated from Central High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of St. Matthew Cathedral. Jim was a man of great faith. He will be remembered by his family and friends for his love and devotion, his humble and gentle nature, his caring and kindness to others. Jim was employed with Neighbor Care Pharmacy.

Visitation will be today, Feb. 12, from 5 to 8 p.m. in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 1827 E. IRELAND ROAD. A vigil will be at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be on Friday, Feb. 13, at 9 a.m. in St. Matthew Cathedral. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
