SOUTH BEND - Marvin Louis Davis, 94, of South Bend, passed away Sunday, October, 30, 2016, at the Hearth at Juday Creek, Granger, and is now in the Arms of God. Marvin was born September 15, 1922 in South Bend, to the late Oliver and Elizabeth Davis. On October 29, 1966 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, he was united in marriage to Elaine F. Criger, who preceded him in death on May 5, 2015. Marvin was a life resident of South Bend, graduated from Central High School in 1940, and Oregon State University in 1950, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Elizabeth Davis, sister, Norma Trimmer and brothers, Richard Davis of Corvallis, OR, Ted Davis of Naples, FL, and Donald Davis of Ovida, FL. Marvin is survived by his brother, Paul Davis of South Bend, nephews, Paul Trimmer of Elkhart and Thomas Trimmer of Birmingham, MI; nieces, Wendy Woodward of Portland, OR, Debbie Mahr of Corvallis, OR, Carolyn Thomas of Ft. Myers, FL, Ellen Kamysz of Bartlett, IL, Julie Metz of St. Joseph, MI, Lynn Gray of Naples, FL, Jeanne Rhodes of South Bend, Carol Rippey of Flint, TX, Gail Poorman of South Bend and Sharon Nino of Ovida, FL, and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Marvin worked at Studebakers for 10 years as a Tool & Die maker, Bendix Corporation for 28 years as an engineer, and Miles Laboratory for 10 years as an engineer. He had a Pilot's license and owned his own plane. He was a life member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, where he held many offices, a member of the Antique Auto Club, and owned a 1956 Ford Thunderbird of which he was very proud, member of St. Joseph Lodge #45, F & A.M., Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend, where he received the Meritorious Service Award. Visitation will be held from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 2nd, at Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 521 N. William Street, South Bend. Funeral services will be officiated by Pastor Todd Lotridge at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 3rd, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 51900 Mayflower Road, South Bend, IN 46628, with visitation one hour prior to the service at church.
