Rosemary P Barrett (Gentner) - Class Of 1942

OSCEOLA - Rosemary Patricia Gentner, age 91 of Osceola, passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at the Hospice House of South Bend. Rosemary was born October 26, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Everett and Rose (O'Riley) Barrett. Following her graduation from South Bend Central High School in 1942, she married Russell J. Gentner on November 26, 1944. He preceded her in death, passing away in 1962. In 1970, Rosemary moved from Osceola to Leesburg, Florida where she lived independently for 44 years. In 2014, she moved to New Carlisle to live at Chicago Trail Village.

Surviving are her children Norma Davis of Banner Elk, North Carolina & Russell (Jacqueline) Gentner of Granger, Indiana. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren, as well as her sister Nadine Houston of New Carlisle, Indiana. Rosemary was preceded in death by her infant daughter Pamela Diane Gentner, her siblings Shirley Crosby and Donald Barrett, and her son-in-law, Ralph Davis.

There will be one hour of visitation prior to the 4:00 pm celebration of her life on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Zimmerman Inman Funeral Home in Osceola.

Rosemary was employed in retail sales for many years, and in her spare time enjoyed working in her flower gardens and spending time with the many pets she cared for over the years. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Leesburg, where she volunteered her time caring for children in the nursery, and was also a longtime member of Order of the Eastern Star, Niles Chapter.
