SOUTH BEND - Lyle E. Osborne, 94, residing in South Bend, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 2, 2016 at Southfield Village. He was born in Nashville, TN, on August 26, 1921 to Lyle & Grace (Ross) Osborne, and has lived in South Bend all of his life.

Lyle was a 1939 graduate of Central High School, and attended Purdue University. He proudly served his country in the United States Army-Air Corps during WWII from 1941-1945. Following the war, Lyle was employed with the Bendix Corp. Then in 1959 he formed a manufacturing business which he operated until his retirement in 1985. He and Millie enjoyed traveling, and in particular, their condo in Maui, Hawaii.

On April 8, 1944, Lyle was united in marriage to the former Mildred “Mille” Krushansky. He is survived by his loving wife Millie, of 72 years. Also surviving is his daughter, Louanne Osborne of South Bend, IN; and his son, Kevin Osborne of Kirkland, WA. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Dustin (Jo Ann) Scharf of Wheaton, IL, Brian Emmons of South Bend, IN and Lily Osborne of Seattle, WA; as well as four great-grandchildren, Alessandra Emmons-Griffin of South Bend, Thad, Calvin, and Avery Scharf, all of Wheaton, IL.

He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald in 2013, and a grandson, Darrin Emmons in 2006.

The family would like to thank the Center for Hospice Care for their care and kindness during the past months, and to the staff at Southfield Village for their wonderful care and compassion during the past few weeks.

There will be no services. A private gathering will be held to honor Lyle's life and memory.
