Janeen K. Kromkowski, 60, of Lincoln Way West, wife of state Rep. Thomas S. Kromkowski, died Thursday at Memorial Hospital after an illness.

Mrs. Kromkowski had been employed as a registered nurse with Memorial Hospital and Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac for 32 years.

She graduated from Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and was a member of the Memorial Hospital Alumni Association.

Mrs. Kromkowski was born March 28, 1942, in South Bend. On Aug. 10, 1963, as Janeen Beard, she married Thomas S. Kromkowski. He has represented South Bend in the Indiana General Assembly since 1980. Survivors in addition to her husband include a daughter, Julie McSweeney of Atlanta, and a son, Gregary of Dallas.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a parish vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
