Carmy L. Hurtle, 63, of Parkview Place, South Bend, Ind., died at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, in his residence.

He was born on Sept. 18, 1939, in South Bend, to the late Pauline (Mann) and Carmy Edgar Hurtle.

On Oct. 3, 1959, in South Bend, he married Nancy J. Amber, who survives. Mr. Hurtle is also survived by four daughters, Lisa (Greg) Glassburn of Plymouth, Ind., Judy (Gregg) Horner of South Bend, Janet Gard, also of South Bend, and Karen (Shad) Taylor of North Liberty, Ind.; nine grandchildren, Zach, Mitch and Kate Glassburn, Nicholas and Alyssa Horner, Patrick Hurtle, Brandon Gard, Colton and Daniel Taylor.

Mr. Hurtle retired as a dispatcher from the 7-Up Bottling Company. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 364 and had served as a union steward. He was an avid fisherman, and loved to garden and cook. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He had many friends and will be sadly missed.

Services for Mr. Hurtle will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 21, in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., South Bend. Rev. Sam Oliver from Hospice will conduct the services. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Cremation will take place at the Michiana Crematory after the funeral services.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637-3437.
