Sep. 26, 1946 - Apr. 29, 2009

Sue Lynne (Sallows) Metcalfe, 62, residing in Osceola, passed away suddenly Wednesday, April 29. She was born September 26, 1946, in South Bend, the daughter of Edward & Winifred (Vanderbosch) Sallows, and has been a lifelong resident of this community.

On January 2, 1965, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, South Bend, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Michael C. Metcalfe. She is survived by her loving husband Michael, along with her two daughters, Deborah Sue (Jim) Gulyas of Mishawaka, Cynthia Sue (Rodney) Bettcher of Lakeville, and seven grandchildren, Joshua Sauer, Chelsea Lynne Sauer, Allison Gulyas, Jami Gulyas, Rodney Michael Bettcher, Ryan Bettcher, and Michaela Sue Bettcher.

Also surviving Sue are her three sisters, Patricia "Pat" (Jim) Feehly of Osceola, Geraldine "Jerrie" Kozarek of Grand Rapids, MI, and Michelle "Shellie" (Robert) Lajiness of Santee, CA. Her parents, a son, Edward Michael Metcalfe, and a sister, Margaret "Peggy" Combes, preceded her in death.

Sue was a 1964 graduate of Central High School, South Bend. She was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Mishawaka. She and Mike were longtime members of the Michiana Corvette Club of which Sue formerly served as Vice-President. Through the Corvette Club, she and Mike volunteered with many charitable organizations. They loved cruising in their Corvette, and often times as they were driving, Mike would pull over on the road, and take Sue out of the car and give her "A Sweet Kiss at Fannie Mae". Sue also enjoyed crafts, sewing, dancing, and traveling.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday, May 4, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Mishawaka. Graveside services and burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. The family will receive friends from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 3, at the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., where a parish rosary will be said at 7:00 p.m. Sunday

Visitation will also be one hour prior to Mass Monday at the Church. Expressions of sympathy on behalf of Sue Metcalfe may be offered to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Indiana Chapter, 1261 West 86th Street, Suite E-2, Indianapolis, IN 46260.
