Robert Allen "Bob" Megysi

Robert A. "Bob" Megysi, 57, of Billings, passed away Thursday evening, Nov. 27, 2003, at the Deaconess Billings Clinic, following the onset of a sudden neurological disease.

Bob was born on July 18, 1946, in South Bend, Ind., a son to Steven and Doris (Turpin) Megyesi. He was raised and educated in South Bend.

Following his high school graduation, Bob entered the U.S. Air Force, serving in Maine and Canada. Following his honorable discharge, Bob attended Michigan State University.

He married Shelley Toebe in 1971. Bob and his family moved to Billings in 1979, where he started his career with Jason's Clothing Store.

At the time of his death, Bob was starting his 23rd year with Jason's.

On Aug. 21, 1998, Bob married Kathy Jones in Nye. Together they enjoyed bicycling, hiking, and they loved to travel and spend time with each other.

Bob also was a past chairman and board member of the YMCA, past president and board member of the Kiwanis. In addition, Bob was a member of the Montana Officials Association.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy; his three children and their mother, Matthew (Stacey) Megyesi of Denver, Amanda (Matt) McCave of Kalispell, and Sarah Megyesi of Missoula; his stepson, Christopher (Nicole) Kelleher of Deerfield, Ill; his three brothers, Richard of Rocky Mount, NC., Thomas of Mayfield, Ind., and Michael of Mishawaka, Ind.; three grandchildren, Astra and Kievan McCave, and his faithful companions, Magic, Sunflower and Calli.

Bob had a great sense of humor and loved with his family and grandchildren. He also enjoyed being a girl's volleyball referee.
