Rudy Alfred Rems - Class Of 1957 VIEW PROFILE

Rudy Alfred Rems

Rudy A. Rems

Rudy was born June 7, 1939 in South Bend, IN to Julius and Alice (Micinski) Rems. He graduated from Central High School in 1957. He worked for the Torrington Company as a machinist until they closed in 1984 and then started his own painting business, Picasso Painting. He went on to be a chef for Omaha Steaks, which allowed him to travel the world and share his love and knowledge of cooking, before eventually retiring to Estero, FL in 2005. He enjoyed the beach, traveling, and cooking. He loved teaching family and friends his favorite recipes, which included polish sausage, dill pickles, cheesecake, and whiskey. He loved to throw big gatherings to get everyone together for a good time with live music, drinks, and amazing cuisine that he prepared from scratch.

Rudy was a fun-loving, charismatic, and eccentric man who was always full of surprises. He easily became the center of attention and could make a new friend anywhere he went. He was the ultimate prankster and his sense of humor was unmatched. He was also known to gently ruffle the feathers of others when he saw fit. He kept everyone laughing until the very end. He showed us all the importance of hard work, creative innovation, loyalty, family, true friendship, and to never back down no matter how hard life gets. His lessons in cooking, painting, and how to fix just about anything will remain valuable to everyone.

Rudy is preceded in death by: his father, Julius Rems; mother, Alice (Micinski) Rems; brother, Dale Rems; sister, Diane Smanda; and former wife, Janice Anderson.

"Oh, the world is wide and the world is grand, And there's little or nothing new, But the sweetest thing is the grip of the hand, Of a friend that's tried and true."

No funeral or memorial service is immediately planned. The family will notify loved ones in the future if a memorial service is scheduled.

Final arrangements have been entrusted to Neptune Society, Fort Myers, Florida.
