Central 1957 Shari (Busse) Lee

NILES - Shari Lee, 77, of Niles, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, May 6, 2016.
Shari was born on April 6, 1939 to the late William and Lois “Mickey” (McMichael) Busse in South Bend, Indiana.
In 1957 Shari graduated from South Bend Central High School where she was active in the band and orchestra, playing the tympani drums. She spent her summers at the Interlochen Center of the Arts where she played the harp and worked as a counselor. She went on to attend Hope College and Western Michigan University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in teaching in 1961. She taught early elementary in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
On December 26, 1965 Shari married Robert “Bob” Lee at a ceremony in Niles at New Apostolic Church where they were members. She was always an active member of the church, teaching Sunday school and Vacation Bible School, playing the harp and singing in the choir. Shari loved kids - after raising her two children she returned to the schools as a substitute teacher and a tutor for many years and was always there for her nieces. Shari loved the time she spent with her grandchildren and her group of friends who regularly gathered for lunch.
Shari was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her brothers, Fred (Linda Stanley) Busse and Bill Busse; children, Christopher (Tia) Lee of Buchanan and Robin (Reza) Emami of Columbus, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Brighton Lee, and Ethan and Audrey Emami.
The family would like to thank Shari's amazing caregivers for the loving kindness they showed her over the years. They were always there for her medically, spiritually and as true friends and we will forever be grateful.
A memorial service will be held at Brown Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with a time of visitation one hour prior.
