SOUTH BEND - Senior Master Sergeant John Waite, 59, of Indian Harbour Beach, FL, passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2007.

John was born in South Bend, IN, on August 25, 1947, to Harry and Mary Elizabeth Waite.

John graduated from Central High School in the class of 1966. He served 39 years in the U.S. Air Force and worked Civil Service concurrently until his death. John served his country in Vietnam, Operation Desert Storm and Enduring Freedom. John retired from Patrick Air Force Base, Florida, on July 6, 2007.

John is survived by his wife of 17 years, Rebecca Waite; his son, Richard (Claudette) Waite; his stepson, Charles (Jessica) Nichols; a grandson, Michael; his step-daughter, Mindy (Brad) Fisher; and two grandchildren, Dillon and Cody. John had six brothers and a sister, Jim (Linda) Waite, Mark (Gisele Wittling), Tim (Emily) Waite, Bill (Barbara) Waite, Michael (Carla) Waite, Pete (Patty) Waite and Susan (John) McLaughlin. John is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

John will be buried in the family plot at Highland Cemetery on Friday, August 17, 2007, at 10:30 a.m.

INDIAN HARBOUR BEACH Senior Master Sergeant John Waite, 59, of Indian Harbour Beach, FL, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2007. John was born in South Bend, IN, on August 25, 1947, to Harry Timothy and Mary Elizabeth Waite. John graduated from Central High School in the class of 1966. He served 39 years in the U.S. Air Force and worked Civil Service concurrently until his death. John served his country in Viet nam operation, Desert Storm, and Enduring Freedom. John was the 704th Life Support Superintendent at Bergstrom from 1987 to 1990. John took over the Life Support Superin tendent ART position with the 920 RQS at Patrick AFB, FL in 1990 and retired on July 5, 2007. He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church and a member of Moose Lodge #2367 and VFW Post #4643. John is survived by his wife of 17 years, Rebecca Waite; his son, Richard (Claudette) Waite; his step-son, Charles (Jessica) Nichols and grand son, Michael; his step-daugh ter, Mindy (Brad) Fisher and two grand children, Dillon and Cody. John had six brothers and one sister, Mark Waite (Gisele Wittling), Tim (Emily) Waite, Bill (Barbara) Waite, Michael (Carla) Waite, Pete (Patty) Waite, Susan (John) McLaughlin. John is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 22nd, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Beach Funeral Home in Indian Harbour Beach. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Mon day, July 23, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Indialantic. The family requests dona tions be made to the Ameri can Lung Association. John will be interned in South Bend, Indiana in the family plot at a later date.
