WAYNE E. O'BRIEN, on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, Wayne lost his battle with heart disease. Born Sept. 2, 1949 in South Bend, Ind. the son of William Edward and Alice T. O'Brien, he graduated at the age of 16 from Central High School of South Bend.

He was employed by WJVA and WNDU at various times. He moved to Fort Wayne and was employed by the City of Fort Wayne. His last position was in the Planning Department from which he retired. He was a past President and a founding member of a local chapter of MENSA. He was a volunteer at the Little Turtle library book sale, ATRA (Airedale Rescue and Adoption), Operation Quiet Comfort and Parkview Heart Institute where he spent many enjoyable hours.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Elizabeth; Airedale, Mya; and many great and wonderful friends. "Heartfelt thanks go to the caring doctors and staff at the Heart Institute." No viewing or services at this time.

A private memorial will be held at a later date. Memorials to Soar-Airedale Rescue and Adoption, 1721 Peavy Rd., Howell, (MI 48843). Arrangements by Midwest Funeral Home & Cremation Society.
