Leslie L. Waggoner, 80, residing on Apple Ridge Court, South Bend, Ind., died at 9:55 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, in Regency Place of South Bend. Mr. Waggoner retired July 1, 1988, from the Bendix Corporation as superintendent of plant services. He was born on May 22, 1922, in South Bend, to Charles Frank and Sabina (Michalski) Waggoner, and lived in this community all of his life.

On March 5, 1944, in Paris, Texas, he married Marian Tulok, who survives. Along with his loving wife of 58 years, Marian Waggoner of South Bend, he is survived by his son and his fiancée, Wayne Leslie Waggoner and Debra R. Hussung of South Bend; two grandsons, Scott Edward Waggoner and Kurt Charles Waggoner, both of South Bend; three nephews, Dana (Jackie) Howlett, Charles (Sylvia) Howlett and Michael (Christine) Howlett; and by a cousin, Elizabeth (Harry) Koehler. 

Mr. Waggoner was preceded in death by his sister, Ethel Jane Howlett. Mr. Waggoner was a member of First Presbyterian Church, South Bend, where he served as deacon, elder, past clerk of session and with 4th Sunday Usher's. He was a member of the American Production Inventory Control Society and had served as its treasurer and secretary. He was also a member of Bendix Salaried Retirees Club, St. Joseph Lodge #45 F&AM, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Elks Lodge 235, Jaguars Clubs of Indiana and Michigan, and the Clay Township Board. Mr. Waggoner served during World War II in the U.S. Army 99th Division Infantry as a staff sergeant.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, in the First Presbyterian Church, 333 W. Colfax, South Bend, IN 46601. Rev. David Morrow, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, where a Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. Contributions in memory of Leslie L. Waggoner may be made to First Presbyterian Church or to the American Parkinson Disease Association, Glenview, IL 60025.
