James R. Summersgill

OCTOBER 5, 1922 – MAY 20, 2011

James R. Summersgill, 88, a retired postman, passed away Friday, May 20, 2011 at Holmes Regional Hospital. He was born in South Bend, IN and came to Brevard County in 1962 from South Bend, IN.

Jim worked for the United States Postal Serv ice and was a veteran of the US Marines. He was also a member of Palmdale Presbyterian, American Legion, Moose Lodge and the Elks.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Genevieve (Stape); three children, Shirley (Roger) Carpenter of Melbourne, Brent (PJ) Summersgill of Winter Springs, and Rene (Dan) Piazza of Melbourne; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be from 11 am to 1 pm, Wednesday, May 25 , 2011 at Florida Memorial Funeral Home. Memorial service with reception to follow at Palmdale Presbyterian at 2 pm.
