Henry Chester Sieczko

HENRY C. SIECZKO

Jan. 2, 1921 - Oct. 11, 2012
MISHAWAKA - Henry Chester Sieczko passed away on October 11, 2012, in Mishawaka, IN. He was born to the late John and Antonia Sieczko in Dowagiac, MI.

Henry graduated from Central High School. From there he proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WW II, receiving a Purple Heart for injuries sustained in a battle in Saipan.

Henry married his lifelong sweetheart, who survives, Ethel "Penny" Vargo in 1946, living in South Bend until their retirement in Mishawaka. Henry's leisure life included his love of fishing, working crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and crewelwork. He enjoyed trying new recipes and crock pot cooking. Passionate about reading, especially about the Civil War and stories of the Old West, he had a beloved collection of books. Louis Lamour was his favorite author. Henry was a member of the D.A.V. One of his greatest pleasures, though, was seeing his great-grandchildren.

Henry is survived by two children, Stephen (Kathy) Sieczko, of Marietta, GA, and Pamela Jo Peacock (Robert) of Elkhart. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Thomas Sieczko, William (Jennifer) Sieczko, Vanessa (Tyler) Stephens and Travis (Jenny) Peacock; and eight great-grandchildren, Ethan and Samantha Sieczko, Owen and Tessa Sears, Tristen Stephens, Austin, Christian and Brennen Peacock. There are no services planned. Elkhart Cremation Services is entrusted with arrangements.
