Dolores E. (Shomler) Cenkush

SOUTH BEND — Dolores E. Cenkush, 70, of Jefferson Square, died at 4:11 p.m. Thursday in St. Joseph's Medical Center after an illness. Mrs. Cenkush retired in 1984 from Lydick and Warren elementary schools as a teacher. She was born July 26, 1923, in Milwaukee, and lived in South Bend since 1949, coming from Milwaukee.

On Aug, 30, 1947, in Milwaukee, as Dolores Shomler, she married Edward M. Cenkush Sr. He died June 16, 1982. She is survived by two daughters, Marsha Cenkush of Mishawaka and Brenda Cenkush of South Bend; two sons, Edward M. Jr. of South Bend and Robert of Kingsbury: five grandchildren; two great grand. sons; a sister, Marilyn Schmidt of Glen Ellyn. Ill.; and a brother, Richard Shomler of Milwaukee.

She was a member of Valparaiso University Guild, Retired Indiana State Teachers Association, American Legion Auxiliary Post 50, Republican Party Women's Association, Widow to Widow, and Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, and was director of the Central High School Alumni Band. She was a graduate of Milwaukee County Nursing School, Valparaiso University and Indiana University South Bend.

Dolores E. to Edward M. Cenkush. He is the son of Mrs. Edward Cenkush of New Carlisle. this county. Miss Shomler was graduated from Central High School and the Milwaukee County General hospital school of Nursing. Mr. Cenkush was graduated from New Carlisle High school. They are both attending Valparaiso University, Valparaiso. Ind.. and. are planning a late summer wedding.
