GOSHEN - Norman E. Motts, 88, passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2010, at 3:55 a.m. in Greencroft Healthcare, Goshen. He was born on April 11, 1922, in South Bend, to Edward T. and Elva (Linard) Motts. On September 24, 1955, in St. Joseph MI, he married Clara M. Pschigoda, who survives. Also surviving are one niece, Nancy (Jim) Myers; and a nephew, Craig (Donna) Kretchman, both of Niles, MI; three great-nieces and two great-nephews.

Norman was preceded in death by one infant son, Roy Norman Motts in 1959; and by a sister, Peggy Kretchman.

He served in the U.S. Army's 99th Infantry Division, 324th Medical Battalion in Company D, and fought in the Battle of the Bulge as a member of the "Battle Babies." He served from November 1942 to January 1946. Norman worked for Uniroyal Rubber Co. as a paymaster for 34 years.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m. in the Meetinghouse at Greencroft, 1225 Greencroft Drive, North Entrance, Goshen. The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Russell Snyder, visiting pastor of Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in South Bend. Memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church or to the Greencroft Foundation. The Yoder-Culp Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
