Harriet Marie (Melander) Billger

Harriet Marie Billger, 93, of South Bend, IN passed away at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Hubbard Hill. She was born on October 30, 1922 in South Bend, IN to the late Ernest T. and Hilma (Peterson) Melander. On October 5, 1946 in South Bend, IN she was united in marriage to D. Ross Billger who preceded her in death on March 30, 2011.

Mrs. Billger is survived by her daughter, Dr. Joan (Andy) Burleigh of Fort Collins, CO; son, Terry (Jane) Billger of Plano, TX; three grandchildren, Stacey Billger, David Burleigh and Danny (Courtney) Burleigh. She was also preceded in death by three sisters Evelyn Swanson, Lillian Tohulka and Marian Larson; and two brothers Donald Melander and Harry (Dorothy) Melander.

Mrs. Billger was a lifelong resident. She worked for Associates Financial for several years before leaving to raise her family. She loved the Lord and enjoyed listening to hymns throughout her day. She also relished her travels with Ross throughout the United States and Europe stopping at various locations to enjoy God’s beautiful scenery.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 4, 2016 at Southlawn Cemetery, 61300 U.S. 31 South, South Bend, IN. Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, South Bend is assisting the family.
