Victor E. Simon, 89, of Richard Street, South Bend, passed away at 6:15 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Mr. Simon retired from the Bendix Corporation after 32 years of service. He was born Oct. 30, 1914, in South Bend, to the late Oscar and Hazel (Cochran) Simon and lived in this area all of his life.

On June 19, 1937, in South Bend, he married Helen Solloway, who preceded in death on April 18, 1995. Survivors include two daughters, Joelen Columbia and Maranatha R. (Rev. Michael) McKinnies, both of South Bend, nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Josephine Atherton, Esther Johnson and LeeAnn (Calvin) Stuart, all of South Bend. One son, Sheldon Simon, preceded in death on Nov. 12, 1997, along with a sister, Thelma Flanagan.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Dec. 24. in Christ Temple Apostolic Church, 2307 Elwood Ave., South Bend, IN 46628. Rev. Michael McKinnies will officiate. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 23, in the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, and one hour prior to services at the church. Mr.

Simon was a graduate of Central High School and a 70-plus year member of Christ Temple Apostolic Church. He also was a Boy Scout Leader for Troop #500 for 20-plus years. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Temple Apostolic Church.
