SOUTH BEND - South Bend-George Henry Kline, 94, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2017 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka.

George was born on March 6, 1922 in South Bend to William J. and Dessie (Rish) Kline. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Linda Lou Kline and Sharon Lee Kline; siblings, Cecil Duby, Blanche Kistler, Gladys Campbell, Pauline Shaw, Ruth Steinger, Naomi Mason, Mildred Smith, Genevieve Olinger, John Kline, Willard Kline and Stewart Kline; grandchildren, Adrian Kline, Holly Kline, Nathan Calhoun and Kimberly Gann.

George married Verna Inez Martin on December 20, 1942. He married Hazel Davis on May 15, 1967; she preceded him in death on February 24, 2008.

Surviving are his daughters, Marjorie Jane Mikesell of Mishawaka, Suzanne Louise Loftin of Arkansas, and Karen Lynn (David) Pedzinski of Elkhart; sons, Marvin James Kline of Mishawaka and Jack Edward (Veronica) Kline of Hillsville, VA; son-in-law, James Michael Kuhn of San Francisco, CA; adopted daughter, Marymargaret Kline of South Bend; sister, Hazel Neddo of Clear Creek, TN; 15 grandchildren, James, Michael, Jeri Lynn, Gina, Chase, Mariah, Tracy, Donald Lee, Mark, Rhonda, Winona, Danny “Kevin”, Shane, David and Scott; 22 great grandchildren; six great great-grandchildren.

George was a Veteran of the United States Army; serving his Country proudly during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He was a truck driver of Preston Trucking in South Bend for 45 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Cathedral of St. James Episcopal Church in South Bend, Masonic Lodge #45 32nd Degree, lifetime member VFW Post 360 Mishawaka, Teamsters Local 364 retirees and past master PM Avon Grotto South Bend.

Visitation will be on Sunday, February 26 from 2 to 6 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be on Monday, February 27 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home, with The Rev. CN. Terri L. Bays officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola with Military Rites by VFW Post 360/American Legion 161 Burial Team.
