George Lee Jones

George Lee Jones, Jr., 75, for­merly of South Bend, Ind., passed away after a lengthy illness on Monday, Feb. 9, in his daughter and son-in-law's home in Havertown, Pa.

He was born on Oct. 21, 1922, in South Bend, the son of George and Maggie Jones, who preceded him in death. In Philadelphia, Pa., he married Dorothy Bowser on June 22, 1945. They had one daughter. He was also preceded in death by his wife.

He graduated from Central High School in June of 1940. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in October of that year in Chicago, III. He served four years aboard the Destroyer Escort Ship U.S.S. Mason #520.

He owned and operated the Jones Press Print Shop until his ill­ness.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Emest Borlandoe; a granddaughter Alexis, and a grandson, O'Mara two sisters, Mrs. Lydia Edmonds and Mrs. Mary Perkins of South Bend: five nephews, Robert L Williams (Barbara), LaMari Robbins (Peg) of Ann Arbor, Mich. Cecil James of Lansing, Mich. John Robbins (Carmen) of San Diego, Calif., and Jerome Perkins (Peachie) of South Bend; two nieces, JoAnne Wright o Maywood, Ill., and Audrey Jear Hunt (Harlan) of Marietta, Ga.; and by great-nephews and nieces.

His funeral was held on Friday Feb. 13, at the Woods Funeral Home,Philadelphia, Pa. Burial was in Rolling Green Cemetery.
