SOUTH BEND — Raymond G. Janowiak, 77, died at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 27, at Hospice House of St. Joseph County. Ray retired after 43 years from the White Farm Equipment Company. He was born on May 15, 1921, in South Bend, Ind., to the late Stanley and Hattie Janowiak, and was a lifelong resident of South Bend.

On May 7, 1949, he married Evelyn Orlowski, who survives. He is also survived by three daughters, Marcia Kelly (Joe) and Nancy Bishop (Rick), both of South Bend, Jacqueline Booz of Michigan City; and a son, Michael (Cathy) of South Bend. A son, Gregory, preceded him in death. Ray is also survived by eight grandchildren; and by three brothers, Richard and Robert (Helen) Janowiak, both of South Bend, and Leonard Johns of Plantation, Fla.

Ray was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Bowlers Country, American Legion Pulaski Post 357, and Z.B. Falcons 80 where he was on the board of directors, secretary of Nest 80 bowling and golf league and he received the Legion of Honor Medal for his dedication and service.

Ray received his degree from the former South Bend Business College of Commerce. He was a World War II veteran and a P.O.W. who was awarded the Purple Heart and the Europe, Africa and Middle East medals in 1945.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 30, in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, South Bend. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Ray's family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today in the St. Joseph
Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend, where a Rosary will be-said at 7 p.m. The Legion of Honor of Z.B. Falcons will have a service immediately following the Rosary.
