OSCEOLA - Jack M. Hurwich, 70, of River Oaks lane, died at 5:50 p.m. Thursday in his home after un illness. Mr. Hurwich retired in 1985 as the owner of Mishawaka & Michiana Brass, Mishawaka. He was born March 4, 1922, In South Bend and was a lifelong area resident.

On March 4, 1955, in South Bend, he married Muriel Wien. She survives with a daughter, Daryl Melkin of Sevierville, Tenn.; two sons, Maurice of South Bend and Tom of Evanston, Ill.; six grandchildren; and a sister, Bette Norwich Zoss of Vineyard Haven, Mass.

He was a veteran of World War II and a graduate of Purdue University. He was a member of Temple Beth-El, Elks Lodge 235, and the former Indiana Club, all of South Bend.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Temple Beth-El, South Bend. Burial will be in Hebrew Orthodox Cemetery, Mishawaka. There will be no visitation. Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, South Bend. is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Temple Beth-El, Memorial Health Foundation, Canco and Family and Children's Center, all in South Bend.
