Chester Hoffman, 88, of South Bend, IN, passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2007 in St. Joseph�s Regional Medical Center-Mishawaka.

Chester was born on March 10, 1919 in South Bend, IN to Valentine and Louise (Janicki) Hoffman.

Mr. Hoffman retired in 1984 as Food Services Manager for the Joyce Center at the University of Notre Dame.

On September 6, 1947 in Dowagiac, MI, he married Phyllis A. Clancy, who preceded him in death on November 26, 1990. Also preceding him in death were a brother, Richard Hoffman, and a daughter-in-law, Sharon Hoffman.

Survivors include one daughter, Debra A. (Robert) Urbanski of South Bend, IN; two sons, Daniel J. (Carol) Hoffman of Flower Mound, TX and David J. Hoffman of South Bend, IN; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his loving friend, Helen Kelly of Mishawaka, IN.

Mr. Hoffman was a 1938 graduate of Central High School and a W.W.II Army Veteran. He was a former member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #58 and the V.F.W. Post #360. He was an avid Notre Dame, Chicago Bears, and Chicago Cubs fan.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 21, 2007, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow in Highland Cemetery, where military services will be conducted.

Friends may call from 3:00 until 8:00 PM Friday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN.
