SHIRLEE (YODER) NOWICKI-BURKE


July 4, 1921 - Dec. 25, 2011 ELKHART - Shirlee J. Nowicki-Burke, 90, of Elkhart, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2011 at 1:47 A.M. at her residence. She was born July 4, 1921 in South Bend to Charles N. and Mildred (Lamb) Yoder.

On March 28, 1942 she married LeRoy T. Nowicki and he died March 12, 1975. She then married Jerome Burke on December 7, 1988 and he died January 9, 1997.

Survivors include a son, Thomas E. (Rene Ann) Nowicki of Goshen; daughter, Alice David of Bainbridge Island, WA; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents and husband's, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sally Jane Woodward.

Shirlee was a 1939 graduate of South Bend Central High School.

She was a member of Beulah Missionary Church, the Four Arts Club and a volunteer at the YMCA Senior's Center.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 from 4 to 8 P.M. and 1 hour prior to the 11:00 A.M. funeral service on Thursday, December 29, 2011 held at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin Street, Elkhart. Pastor Bryon Smith of Beulah Missionary Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Adamsville Cemetery in Edwardsburg, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to Southern Care Hospice.
