Jane Elizabeth Hoare

Jane E. Hoare, 77, of Tanglewood Lane, Mishawaka, Ind., formerly of Rue Flambeau, South Bend, Ind., died following an illness at 3:01 p.m. on Friday, March 12, in Memorial Hospital. Miss Hoare was born on May 13, 1921, in South Bend, to Alton R. and Mildred (Stockton) Hoare, and was a lifetime area resident. She was preceded in death by her parents; and by a sister, Anna Portillo.

She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

Miss Hoare retired in 1983 after 32 years as a teacher and librarian in Lakeville, Chesterton and South Bend. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Indiana Retired Teachers Association, St. Joseph County Teachers Association, and Alpha Delta Pi Social Sorority. She was a graduate of Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science and Master's degree in guidance.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William Street, with Rev. Ellwood K. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind.
There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 333 N. Main Street, South Bend, IN 46601.
