JOHN PATRICK CRIMMINS, 90, died suddenly at home in Angola, on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011 attended by his beloved wife, Rita. Born on Oct. 1, 1921 in South Bend, he was the son of Jesse J. and Grace Crimmins.

He graduated from South Bend Central High School in 1939, attended the University of Notre Dame, enlisted in the U.S. Navy and later graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1948.

He married "the most beautiful girl in the world," Rita Marie Davis on Sept. 4, 1948 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, South Bend, Ind.

He had a full career working for Studebaker and Bendix in South Bend, Emerson in Minneapolis and Ontario, Canada. The family moved to Angola, in 1968 where he took a position with Weatherhead. He retired from Dana in 1989. A life-long Catholic, he was a member of St. Anthony Parish where he was a lector for a number of years and served on the Finance Council. He became a certified financial planner after his retirement and donated his services to those in need. He was proud to be an Irishman and would always share his food and drink with anyone who wished to 'break bread' with him. He loved a good game of euchre, Friday fish fry at the VFW, Arby's, milkshakes, chocolate, Peeps, and though not verbal about it, his wife and seven children. His lunch request the afternoon of his passing was for a chocolate donut from Tom's Donuts accompanied with a cup of cocoa.

He is survived by Rita, his wife of 63 years; his seven children, Mary Beth and husband, Bob Huba of Georgetown, Texas, John Patrick, Jr. and wife, Kim Hinsdale, of Illinois, Ann and husband, Dr. Douglas Johnson, of Pendleton, Ind., Dr. Timothy and wife, Dr. Sharon Marx, of Edina, Minnesota, Joan and husband, Jerry Vorva, of Plymouth, Mich., Cynthia Crimmins, of Oakland, Calif., and Dr. Patrice and husband Eric Ellingson, of Huntertown; 20 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; one brother, Fred, of South Bend, Ind.; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; other relatives including Agnes Woodhouse and James Boland; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services are 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012 at St Anthony of Padua Parish, 700 W. Maumee St., Angola, Ind., with Father Bernie Zajdel officiating. Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012 at the H.E. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, 108 S. West St., Angola, Ind., with a rosary service at 7 p.m. Burial at Circle Hill Cemetery.
