SOUTH BEND - Francis Joseph Weber, 90, of Mesa, AZ, passed into God's loving care on Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010, in Phoenix, AZ. Fran was born in South Bend, IN, on April 30, 1920. He was the beloved husband of the late Olga J. (married June 14, 1941). He also was predeceased by his father, John J. Sr., and mother, Johanna (Setelin) Weber, as well as by five brothers and five sisters.

Fran is survived by his loving children: son, Ronald (Beverly) of Hamilton Sq., NJ; daughter, Patricia of Mesa, AZ. Grandchildren include Ronald Jr. (Lori White) of PA, Steven of AZ and Christopher Weber of NJ. Great-grandchildren, Nicole Thomas, Kristin and Jeremy Weber. Fran is also survived by his sister-in-law, Marjorie L. Marshall of AZ, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Fran was a WW II U.S. Navy veteran. A graduate of South Bend Central High in 1937.

Fran then embarked on his cherished career in the brewing industry for the next 48 years. He started his South Bend career with Drewry's Brewery, Ltd., where he was chosen to attend the US Brewers' Academy. He then joined Jacob Schmidt Brewing Co. in St. Paul, MN, where he retired as a Master Brewer in 1985. He then relocated to Mesa, AZ . He was a lifetime fan of Notre Dame football. He also enjoyed puzzles, lapidary, golf and computers.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, at Lakeshore Mortuary, 1815 S. Dobson Road, Mesa, AZ. A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, Dec 14, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. in the Church of the Resurrection, 3201 S. Evergreen Road, Tempe, AZ. Interment with full military honors will take place at 1:00 p.m. at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1562 E. Baseline Road, Mesa, AZ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Fran's memory to the American Heart Association.
